Welcome to the trenches. This glossary is your quick guide to the slang, terms, and inside jokes used across the memecoin community. Whether you’re a seasoned degen or just getting started, these definitions will help you decode the fast-paced world of memecoins.

Airdrop – Free token distribution, usually for marketing or community-building purposes.
Alpha – Valuable early information or insights, often about a project before it gains traction.
Bag – A quantity of a coin someone is holding. “I’m holding a big bag of $REKT.”
Bagholder – Someone still holding a coin after its price has significantly dropped.
BTFD – Acronym for “Buy The F***ing Dip.” A call to buy when prices drop.
Burn – Sending tokens to an unrecoverable address to reduce supply.
CEX – Centralized Exchange like Binance, KuCoin, or MEXC.
Cliff Vesting – When early investors can’t sell tokens until a set time; often causes dumps later.
Degen – A “degenerate” trader who takes big risks, often with little research.
DEX – Decentralized Exchange like Uniswap or PancakeSwap.
Diamond Hands – Holding a coin despite volatility or drops.
DYOR – “Do Your Own Research.” A reminder to not blindly follow others.
Exit Liquidity – Late buyers who unknowingly provide liquidity for early holders to cash out.
Floor – The lowest price point where strong buying interest appears.
FOMO – “Fear of Missing Out.” Buying out of panic that you’ll miss gains.
FUD – “Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt.” Negative sentiment (real or false) affecting the market.
Gas Fees – Transaction fees paid to blockchain networks (especially Ethereum).
Green Candle – A price movement that goes up (usually shown in green on charts).
IYKYK – “If You Know, You Know.” Often used to hint at alpha or inside community knowledge.
Jeet – A trader who sells too early, often for a small profit or loss. Known for having weak hands.
Liquidity – The ease with which a token can be bought or sold. High liquidity = easier trading.
LP (Liquidity Pool) – A pool of tokens on a DEX that enables trading without a traditional order book.
MCAP / Market Cap – The total value of a coin’s circulating supply. MCAP = price x supply.
Moon – When a coin’s price rises significantly and rapidly.
Moonbag – A small amount of a coin kept after taking profits, in case it skyrockets.
NFA – “Not Financial Advice.” A disclaimer traders use when giving opinions.
NGMI – “Not Gonna Make It.” A term for traders making poor decisions or giving up too soon.
Paper Hands – Someone who sells easily at the first sign of a dip.
Presale – When a project sells tokens before public listing, often at a discount.
Pump and Dump – Artificial price inflation followed by a sudden crash.
Rugpull – A scam where devs drain the liquidity or disappear with investor funds.
Shill – Promoting a coin (often aggressively), sometimes for personal gain.
Sniper – A bot or trader who buys a token immediately when it launches, often before the public.
Trenches – The grind of trading low cap or early memecoins — where traders hustle hard for gains.
Volume – The total amount of trading activity in a given period.
WAGMI – “We’re All Gonna Make It.” A hopeful meme of collective success.
Whale – A holder with a large amount of a particular coin who can influence price moves.
Wen – Meme version of “when.” Used in “wen moon?” or “wen CEX listing?”
